The Wilhelm Bernhard Workshop is a biennial event focussing on functional aspects of sub-nuclear structures. The Workshop fosters interaction and cooperation between scientists from all parts of the world and especially encourages the active participation of young scientists. To this end, some financial assistance is available to enable attendance of young scientists. Traditionally the Workshop is held in a place of scientific, historical and cultural interest. In 2007, the chosen venue is the ancient university town of St Andrews.

The programme will include sessions on:

  • Chromatin organization and remodelling
  • Nuclear architecture
  • Gene regulation in relation to the formation and activity of nuclear structures
  • RNA metabolism and nuclear bodies
  • The nucleolus
  • Nuclear envelope and nucleocytoplasmic transport
  • Pathological aspects (nuclear components and disease)

Local Organizing Committee:

  • Frances Fuller-Pace (University of Dundee)
  • Brian McStay (University of Dundee)
  • Judith Sleeman (University of St Andrews)
  • John Sommerville (University of St Andrews)
