Ferry from Northern Europe to Scotland

A foot-passenger/car ferry service operates between Zeebrugge, Belgium and Rosyth, Scotland.  Rosyth lies on the Firth of Forth, just 40 miles from St Andrews. which can be reached by public transport (bus from Rosyth to Inverkeithing Station to catch the Dundee/Aberdeen train to Leuchars – see below).

Flights into Edinburgh and other Scottish Airports The airport nearest to St Andrews is Edinburgh, which serves many international destinations. Glasgow and Prestwick airports also lie in the central belt of Scotland and handle additional trans-Atlantic and European flights. Onward journey to St Andrews

From Edinburgh airport: Take the airport bus to Waverly Train Station.  Dundee/Aberdeen trains leave every hour: buy ticket at the station for Leuchars (~”Lookars”, journey time ~1 h).  Buses run from Leuchars station to St Andrews every 15 min through the day. Taxis are also available at the station.

Alternatively, take the bus from the airport to Inverkeithing Station to catch the Dundee/Aberdeen train to Leuchars.
