Ildiko is a newly appointed MASTS Lecturer. Her interests are in the field of evolution and development (“Evo-Devo”), including the evolution of regeneration mechanisms and stem cells . She employs a comparative framework to study the amazing diversity of regenerative ability in different systems, particularly marine organisms . The long-term goal of her research is to shed light on new facets of the regulation of stem cells in species with high regenerative potential, in an effort to improve organ regeneration in poorly regenerating species, like humans.
